“Bypass”
Directed by Amit Kumar, Bypass is a testimony to the fact that you do not need a back-breaking production budget or scintillating locales to tell a unique story. Sometimes you don’t even require the seemingly overrated focus on dialogues or words to tell a gripping tale. Yes you read that right. Bypass speaks to you solely through the mannerisms and quirky eccentricities of its characters.
The talented ( and hardly known then), Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sundar Detha are two muggers who attack hapless passengers passing through the desert, somewhere in Rajasthan, with a crude axe and stones. After killing them without a sweat, they promptly gather whatever they can find off of their lifeless bodies. On one such occassion, they brutally kill off a couple travelling by that road. However, a corrupt cop, played by the globally acclaimed Irrfan Khan, intercepts them and tries to take away their loot. What ensues is, perhaps, one of the most chilling sequence of events portraying the basest of human instincts in all its glory.
